“Blame the Dog performed as one of five finalists in the 2nd annual Battle of the Bands at this year’s Taste of Chicago. Bassist Erik Michalesko, 16, of Skokie, guitarist Justin Kang, 16, of Lincolnwood, vocalist Eli Shiheiber, 16, of Lincolnwood, and drummer David Skuza, 16, of Niles, have been members of the rock band for about a year. All students at Niles West High School, the band played cover songs from the Beatles, Ramones, and Live, along with original hard rock and metal songs written by band members. Judge Steve Wagner, producer at Delmark Recording Studios, said, “I really liked them, they really brought a spirit of punk, they should stick to it, yeah, I loved it.” Miss Illinois Dream Girls remarked that they, “...had a lot of energy...”, while Sondra Solarte of Fox News reported to the roaring crowd that this was Blame the Dog’s. “...first live gig...!” Interviewed audience members thought they were, “...awesome” and “...for a very young group they outdid their-selves” and that, “Blame the Dog rocks!” ”
